WE ARE ABLE TO DISCUSS SOME,OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING HOME WANTS AND MUST HAVE'S:

IS YOUR HOME 50 YEARS OLD OR MORE?

HOUSE REWIRING

Houses built prior to late 1970 were not designed for today's multiple appliance and lighting loads, and contain either VIR (Vulcan Indianised Rubber), or TRS (Tough Rubber Sheath) wiring, and porcelain re-wirable fuses. This wiring system has been found to perish and decay very quickly, leading to hazards such as electric shock, fire, overloading, and short-circuiting.

Any homes still containing this wiring should be rewired with TPS (Tough Plastic Sheath) as soon as possible, and have their fuses replaced with Circuit Breakers and Residual Current Devices, as required by law in all new homes built in New Zealand today.

Re-wiring usually involves the complete removal of all old TRS and VIR cables, old steel conduit and replacing with new TPS cables.  All original sockets, lights switches, light fittings and other electrical fittings are replaced with modern fittings.  New mains cables are installed and the dodgy old fuse board and porcelain fuses are thrown out and replaced with a modern recessed switch board, circuit breakers and residual current devices (RCDs).  Power meters that were once part of the interior fuse board can be re-located to a new meter board outside, so that the meter reader no longer requires access to the home.  Finally an electrical inspector will check certain aspects of the job and sign off the Certificate of Compliance. Quite often insurance companies will offer a reduction in premiums when old houses have been rewired.

We offer a free safety inspection and quote, if you suspect that your home is in need of partial or complete rewiring.

ARE YOU NEEDING TO BRIGHTEN UP YOUR OUTDOOR LIVING?

OUTDOOR AND LANDSCAPE DESIGN

As dusk gathers over your garden, details and then shapes start to blur and disappear. However, instead of your garden rapidly becoming a dark void into the evening, with the flick of a switch a different picture appears---a soft glow back-lights some striking architectural plants. Up-lights pick out the twisted limbs of a beautiful canopy tree, and beckoning path guides you to a pool of light filling an outdoor room.

In the best-lit gardens, less is definitely more. For a start, you don't want to drown out the night sky or shine lights into your neighbour's house and you also don't want to light everything just because you can. Part of the point of a night garden is how different you can make it feel from how it looks during the day. By lighting some parts and leaving others in shade, you can change nearly everything; the apparent size dimensions, spatial relationships and focal points in a garden can be moved and disguised

Mood is another variable, as some nights you may want a place that is soft and romantic, but on special occasions you're ready to be revved up with a bevy of bright lights and fun colours that lift your garden into party mode.
